SPLASH --October 25 --

I wanted to clear a couple of things up regarding SPLASH this weekend. High School is having two events; one is for the 11th -12th grade and the other is for the 9th & 10th grade.
In this email I wanted to high light a couple of issues surrounding the event, specifically: expectations, purpose, & evangelism.

From 4-6 PM, on October 25th, we’ll be serving together at the Coin Laundry located directly across the street from the RSBC Anderson Office Complex. From this past Sunday, we've got about 12 students and adults signed up.

If you drive, please park at the Anderson Lot and walk across Roswell Street. People will be assigned various jobs during this event. We will need people to be designated cooks (not mass cooking, just a few at a time), face painters, soap distributors, conversation(ers), servers, etc.

EXPECTATIONS: To serve the people doing their laundry and the workers with a joyful and humble heart.

PURPOSE: Servant evangelism. We are going to be doing this service in our community and meeting people where they are. We will let them know about our church and the various ministries, but more importantly we need to let them know WHY we are doing this event. So we can not just show people love but, “can I tell you about Him?”

EVANGELISM: A concern of mine with all SPLASH events is that they become social gospel events. I do not want this to happen. All of us need to be intentional about leading conversations in exploring the spiritual situations of the people we are loving on. This should be easy with people not having much to do while their laundry is being done. We have to make sure to season our conversation with the Love of Jesus. We will have gospels of John (English & Spanish) to give to all those wanting.
